This January recruitment period is always a period of feverish rumour and potential big-money moves. A number of high-profile players are being connected to transfers out of their present teams. We examine some of the major figures that could be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the AFCON, this has kept the player available, reports suggest a major transfer is imminent. The 25-year-old possesses a contract with a substantial buy-out clause active for a two-week window in early January. Latest developments suggest Manchester City have emerged as his services. Former interested parties like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, leaving clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late move.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has continued to impress for Palace this season a summer transfer to Liverpool collapsing. With his contract set to expire in the close season, this represents the club's final chance to obtain a fee for their captain. A host of top clubs, such as Manchester City and several European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January departure remains difficult, particularly given the manager's reliance on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Welsh winger has found first-team minutes hard to come by at Tottenham this term. Although being the club's top scorer last season, he has begun just a small number of Premier League matches. It is understood the North London outfit is open to a sale for the correct valuation, believed to be in the around forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally showing an interest.

R. Neves

The Portugal midfielder might be poised for a return to the Premier League after a period in Saudi Arabia. Still just 28, and with his contract ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a possible opportunity. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spanish media that he would be willing to accept a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The experienced German shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barcelona under new manager Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had an operation, a winter exit seems highly probable. Aston Villa were initially linked as a possible suitor, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This proven England striker has continued finding the net regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his fading chances of making the England World Cup. But, securing a deal presents significant challenges. Al-Ahli are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged enormous salary render any agreement difficult. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as admirers.

The striker was instrumental as Al-Ahli to a win in the Saudi Super Cup final.

C. Gallagher

The energetic English midfielder attracted widespread interest in the summer but remained at Atlético. With few starting appearances in Spain this season, he is keen to secure more playing time ahead of the World Cup. United are strongly connected, and a return to Crystal Palace, where he excelled on a temporary deal, is also a possibility, though financial constraints could prove a stumbling block.

H. Elliott

Despite excelling and being named the best player award at the U21 Euros in the summer, the young midfielder has struggled for minutes during his loan spell at Aston Villa. The manager has stated the temporary transfer will not be made permanent. Because of specific rules about representing two clubs in a season, a return to Liverpool before next summer seems to be the sole available outcome.

Kenan Yildiz

This exciting Turkey attacker has been in fine form for the Italian giants this term. As his existing contract nearing its end, many Premier League sides – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are keeping tabs on the developments. The Turin club are eager to tie down the youngster to a lengthy agreement but face a battle to retain one of Europe's most promising prospects.

K. Smit

The highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. After starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ side. The 19-year-old is heavily tipped to complete a major transfer in January. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but could face strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a deal priced at around £22 million.
